When you create a secret, we temporarily store:

  • Text messages (if applicable)
  • Uploaded files (images, videos, documents)
  • Optional password (encrypted)
  • Expiration time settings

Important: All content is automatically and permanently deleted after being viewed once or when the expiration time is reached.

2.2 Technical Information

We may collect basic technical information including IP addresses for rate limiting and abuse prevention purposes only.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

  • Provide the one-time secret sharing service
  • Enforce expiration and one-time view policies
  • Prevent abuse and ensure service security
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do NOT: Read, analyze, or use your content for any purpose other than delivering it to the intended recipient.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Automatic Deletion: Your secrets are automatically deleted:

  • Immediately after being viewed once
  • When the expiration time is reached
  • Through our automated cleanup process (runs every 5 minutes)

Once deleted, content cannot be recovered by anyone, including OneTimeView staff.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
  • Bcrypt password hashing for password-protected secrets
  • Rate limiting to prevent abuse
  • Input sanitization to prevent XSS and injection attacks
  • Secure file storage with access controls

6. Third-Party Services

OneTimeView does not share your content with third parties. We may use third-party services for:

  • Hosting infrastructure
  • Analytics (anonymized data only)
  • Payment processing (for premium subscriptions)

7. Your Rights (GDPR Compliance)

If you are in the European Union, you have the right to:

  • Access your data (though secrets are deleted after viewing)
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to processing
  • Data portability

Note: Due to the ephemeral nature of our service, most user data is automatically deleted.

8. Children's Privacy

OneTimeView is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
